To provide quality fire safety education to the children of Evansville and the surrounding area in a safe, professional, and enjoyable setting.

Since its inception the Survive Alive House has taught fire safety to thousands of Evansville area children. The program targets Third-Grade classes of the Evansville/Vanderburgh School Corporation, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Boys and Girls Club, Churches and many other civic organizations.

Survive Alive is unlike any other fire safety program. With the use of simulated smoke and fire the children are exposed to real-life situations in a controlled and safe setting. Not only does the program allow the children to see and hear what happens during a fire but gives them the opportunity to react to the situation. Survive Alive consists of two parts. The first part is a simulated kitchen fire and the second part is a nighttime fire outside a bedroom door.

During both parts we teach children how to exit the building safely and that they should not try to fight the fire.

Key points of Survive Alive are:
1. The importance of smoke detectors
2. "Get Low" (crawl away from the fire on their hands and knees)
3. How to check the door for heat
4. "Get Out and Stay Out"
5. Have a "family meeting spot"

Members of Evansville Professional Firefighters Local 357 built the house with donated materials an countless hours of hard work. The operation and maintenance are made possible by private donations, fund raisers, and support from Evansville Professional Firefighters Local 357.

Thanks to you, the men and women of Local 357 and our private supporters, this important and life saving program continues to help our kids "SURVIVE-ALIVE".
